Sunrise host David “Kochie” Koch got emotional as he opened his latest show 21 years later at the helm of the show. The longest serving breakfast TV presenter in Australia announced two weeks ago that she would be retiring from the show to spend more time with her family and focus on her work in finance. She appeared glassy early in the show and at one point saw wipe away tears when her colleagues paid tribute to work. His replacement, Olympian Matt Shirvington, was also the main focus of the show. Weatherman Sam Mac told emerging presenter that 67-year-old helped pack things before opening door to his office to reveal walls covered with Shirvington’s paintings. The camera then panned to a whiteboard with the “Shirvo’s To Do List” on it. As the new host, their priorities are “#Shirvonator trending, top billing my step, do we need more sprint strokes and air?” David ‘Kochie’ Koch will hold his last show at the helm of the breakfast show at Sunrise after more than 20 years.Sunrise A ‘To-Do List’ attributed to Kochie’s replacement Matt Shirvington got the hosts laughing.Sunrise Before the 7 o’clock news, cameras followed Koch along corridors lined with sunrise presenters, longtime producers, and family members as they made their way to the Broadcast’s scene. Koch was greeted with a smudge of red lipstick from the flamboyant German host Hans on his forehead, and even made a cheeky snubbing of incoming host Matt “Shirvo” Shirvington before embracing his successor. Co-host Natalie Barr was so overrun with emotions she threw at Koch to open the segment by saying, “Please can you talk.” “It’s been a journey,” she said as she sat at the table on the Friday morning show. “I have so many great memories of venture and I look forward to today’s show.” Earlier the show, he texted rival breakfast host Karl Stefanovic and asked if he had bet on crying the show. “I asked him if he had made a bet on the Sportsbet book to make me cry or cry on the show,” he said. Karl had his wife Jasmine banned from the practice after he dropped money on camel races in Dubai last year. “As you walked in and you were already crying,” Barr replied. Radio hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O also congratulated the host for his decades-long career with the show.
