Robert Lee Evans, 91, former Third Judicial Circuit of Michigan judge, passed away on June 17, 2022, in Scottsdale, AZ. Judge Evans was born on June 4, 1931, in Inkster, Michigan to John Mark and Maggie Mae Evans, and graduated from Inkster High School in 1949 as class president. He received his undergraduate and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Michigan in 1953 and 1956, respectively. Judge Evans began his esteemed legal career with his own law practice in Inkster, Michigan. He was then appointed and elected to judicial positions in the Detroit Recorder’s and Third Judicial Circuit courts. Judge Evans retired from the bench in 2003 after more than 30 years of distinguished judicial service. Following his retirement, Judge Evans and his beloved wife, former Delores Jean Johnson, relocated from Detroit, Michigan to Scottsdale, AZ. Thereafter, he again established his own law firm, practicing law in the greater Phoenix area until his death. An avid University of Michigan sports fan and proud member of the University of Michigan Club of Greater Phoenix, Judge Evans and Delores would often attend Michigan sport events. He is survived by his wife, Delores Jean Evans; son, Robert Lanard Evans; daughter Sherri Evans Harris; granddaughters, Lauren Sherrice and Liana Arielle; and, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Judge Evans’ Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022, 11:00 am, at Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary Chapel, 6500 E. Bell Rd., Scottsdale, Arizona 85254. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
