We’re looking forward to hosting Vuyolwethu Ndakisa’s first solo at the KZNSA later this year in the next instalment of the Young Artists’ Project. Get to know her better in our Meet the Artist series.
Ndakisa’s work explores historical and contemporary themes of life as a Black South African woman from the rural areas, and depicts observed experiences of this. The choice of material for each work is determined by the theme she explores, with materiality enhancing the message.
Ndakisa has participated in a number of group shows, one of which was an international exhibition where she exhibited alongside Nelson Makamo. Her work is held in private collections, including JP Morgan Chase Bank.
