While talking with Republican Congressman Buddy Carter, Bartiromo tried to paint a picture of a negative economy with joblessness running rampant, even though that isn’t true. The folks at Fox News are not happy. Republicans in Congress are not happy, but that’s nothing new. That’s kind of their brand, right? We should be miserable and unhappy about everything, including good news. Because yesterday, believe it or not, the economy actually got some pretty good news. We found out that inflation had fallen to 4% on the year, the lowest it has been in the last two years, and this now marks 11 straight months where the inflation rate has fallen. On top of that, we’ve created 13 million new jobs under President Biden. I mean, we can squabble all day, of course, about the quality of those jobs, the pay that those jobs offer. But on paper, those are good numbers. But not if you’re a conservative, of course, because conservatives don’t want the interest rates to go back down. Conservatives don’t want millions more people getting jobs because if the economy looks like it’s doing better, if individual families’ financial situation is increasing or, or getting better, excuse me, because their pay is increasing, which by the way also report out this week, uh, payroll checks increased by 4%. So payroll checks are still matching inflation, which is easing the squeeze on American families. And again, Fox is not happy. So Fox News host Maria Bartiromo brought on Republican representative Buddy Kramer this week where the two of them wind and and moaned about the fact that, oh, the economy’s doing good, but it’s probably not as good as they say because as Buddy Kramer put it, we still have a labor shortage.
Okay, buddy, do you know why that is? Do you know why we may not have enough workers out there for jobs that are open? Because more than 1 million Americans have died from covid, many of them working age. So when y’all get mad that, oh, we don’t have workers to fill their jobs, yeah, because your Republican policies at the federal level and at the state level sent a million people to an early grave, you don’t think that’s gonna have an impact on the job rate here in the United States. You don’t think that’s going to impact industry. This is your fault, but you don’t wanna get into those specifics. You wanna try to nitpick a couple of decent things that have been happening. And look, I’ll tell you, the economy is not good. The economy is bad for most working families, but that’s not what off these Republicans. You know, they don’t care about the plight of the workers. They’re more worried, as Kramer’s suggests about those poor corporations. Oh, they don’t have enough workers. They don’t have enough people to exploit. Well, y’all are the ones who
Won’t let us bring in workers from the southern border. They wanna come over here and work. They wanna do the jobs that Americans don’t want to take. But Republicans at the state level, like here in Florida, are passing legislation that makes it illegal for those people to get a job. So yes, jobs are gonna go unfilled because you’re not letting us tap the labor potential. And of course, ya sent a million Americans to an early grave. Way more than a million at this point, by the way. So you wanna talk about why the economy is doing so bad, buddy? And of course, everybody at Fox News. How about y’all go back to your dressing rooms and look in those mirrors, because it’s the idiotic talking points that you’ve pushed.
