From tropical rainforests, to deserts, to coral reefs, Australia has much to offer travelers. The iconic Sydney Opera House and nearby Harbour Bridge adorn what is perhaps the largest and deepest natural harbor in the world, one the Captain James Cook called the most spectacular he had ever seen. A journey to Uluru (aka Ayers Rock) in the dry, barren center of the continent, seems like another world compared to the lush, rainy east coast. But for many, the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef, is Australia’s main draw. And why not? It is considered one of the seven wonders of the natural world.
