Miku moves back to her ancestral home in ‘Atolan where she begins a journey to remember and recollect her Amis identity, however, the Amis language is disappearing, cultural and land knowledges are passing away with elders, and most of Miku’s peers view her as just another Han-Chinese from Taipei. Miku has just this one chance to pass her cultural heritage down to her son.

On her journey, Miku builds a close relationship with Ina, an elder who becomes like a mother to Miku. This teaser recounts memories which Ina shares with Miku when their path through the woods is obstructed by private development.

All representations in the film are based on events as they have been retold by elders and youth.

To date, the ‘Atolan Amis Nation has reclaimed nearly a third of their Ancestral lands. Their movement represents a historical first for the Indigenous Nations of Taiwan, with sweeping implications for Taiwan, as well as Indigenous movements around the world.
